NCG Scholarships

The 2019 application process is open. Please download and fill in the 2019 Scholarship Application  and submit all materials by April 1, 2019.

The North County Group of the Sierra Club San Diego awards scholarships to assist students attending either MiraCosta or Palomar Colleges who will join in the effort to protect the environment, engage in the restoration of habitat, and plan for a sustainable future.

To be considered for a scholarship the student should be pursuing a degree and career in the fields of conservation, sustainability, and the environment. Course study to include, but not limited to, biology, botany, horticulture, design and drafting, biotechnology, forestry, and oceanography.

2014 Recipients

The recipients of our 2014 scholarships were MiraCosta students Miguel Avalos and Danielle Bever. Miguel has gone on to study civil engineering at SDSU and Danielle is working on a degree in biotechnology at UCSD, studying algae as an alternative fuel source.

2015 Recipients

The 2015 scholarships have recently been awarded to MiraCosta students Cheryl Broadhead and Erin Hagen, both studying landscape architecture, focusing on sustainable gardening and low water use plantings in California Friendly landscape design.
