Let the Planning Commission know you SUPPORT a strong and protective Environmental Justice Element (EJE). The EJE should:
- Ensure that impacted residents have a voice in decision-making and that regular commissions or working groups be established for key issue areas related to environmental justice.
- Address the gross disparities in access to parks and greenspaces for environmental justice communities.
- Include ALL relevant policies from the Escondido Climate Action Plan and the Housing Element.
- Include proactive policies on Climate Equity and protection of the most vulnerable residents from the worst impacts of climate change.
- Include policies that address health disparities in the most vulnerable communities and avoid unsafe locations for new housing.
- Include ALL relevant policies from the Escondido Climate Action Plan and the Housing Element.
- Reinforce and include policies for Transportation Justice such as increasing access to transit and safe walk and bikeways.
- Address food justice such as ensuring access to quality, healthy food for all residents and increased ability for home-based food production.
