SUMMARY:WBC Pre-Conditioning Hike (Daley Ranch)
DESCRIPTION:Registered for the North County Wilderness Basics Course (WBC) or want to learn more about the WBC?  Join us for a pre-conditioning hike on Sunday\, December 13th. Please contact Dave Cowan at cowan.dm@gmail.com for more information and to register. \nDaley Ranch Sage Loop\nDifficulty M5B (moderate hike\, 5 miles\, 500-1\,000 ft. elevation change) \nThe Daley Ranch is an open space preserve in northeast Escondido. The 3000+ acre preserve has over 20 miles of trails to explore. Our hike will be 4.5 miles with ~600 feet of elevation gain/loss starting at the La Honda Drive trailhead over to the Sage trail and around to the Ranch House before returning to our original trailhead. We will be hiking in chaparral and oak woodlands. We may see some soaring hawks and learn a little about how the ranch came to be a preserve. Please bring extra clothing\, rain gear\, trekking poles (if you use them)\, 2 liters of water and a snack. Sturdy shoes are a must. We will be hiking rain or shine. \nDirections: Take I-15 north to El Norte Parkway east. Drive 3 miles to La Honda Dr. (Dixon Lake sign)\, turn left. Drive 1 mile to the large parking lot at the end of the road. We will meet at the awning at the north end of the parking lot.
